Dorothy Frickle - Becoming a Teacher
“Okay in school I was kind of ornery and then when I decided to go into teaching my friend said, “Well you’ll have no trouble whatsoever! You know all of the tricks!” And one of the first days in a new class, I plugged a projector in. Fire snapped back at me and I said, “Oh, Jesus!” One of the boys said, “Well, at least she called on the right person!”
Dorothy Frickle - Pranks
“Another time, we always had to be on hall duty. Five minutes at noon or at any time between classes. One time when I was on Hall duty outside of my work classroom door, one of the boys got behind the shade. I had two windows in my room that were about 30 inches wide and 20 feet high. Well, he got behind the shade that was right next to my office and when I walked in the room he jumped out. It really scared me and I jumped over a desk! When I went downstairs to the mail room later on, the head counselor saw me coming and came up to me. He said, “I hear you should join our basketball team. You can vault right over the desk!””
