The photo of Kay looking at the apple dishes was from one of our community outings to an antique store to which she says, "My mom had those dishes!" When the team shared the photo, Kris commented that both of their mothers had those dishes with the apples on them! Still connected even after all this time.
Kay and Her Friend Kris
Interviewer: You said this is your friend Kris?
Kay: Yes
Interviewer: Okay, so did you guys grow up together from early?
Kay: Yes, we grew up together. We were in each other’s weddings and everything. Just, always there.
Interviewer: You probably thought of her, of riding the bus together. You guys went to school?
Kay: No, we didn’t ride the bus because we went to a different school.
Interviewer: Okay.
Kay:Â And we were kind of on the way to where we were going. So, mom worked at the bank. She could drop me off at school right next door, kind of thing.Â
Interviewer: Very cool! Did you guys live nearby growing up?
Kay: Yes! We could’ve walked, we would walk together.
Interviewer: Aww, you would walk to her. That’s special. That’s a cool relationship to have.
Kay:Â Yeah, she was here. You remember my friend?
Interviewer:Â Aww, yeah and she still comes to visit.
Kay: Yeah.
Interviewer: And that’s Kris.
Kay: She came to visit awhile back.
Interviewer: She’s a good one.
Kay: Yeah, she’s raising grandchildren now.
Interviewer: Oh, busy.
Kay: Her brother died in a plane crash, so she’s taking care of the kids.
Interviewer: Oh yeah, that's hard but beautiful in the same way.
Kay: Yeah, Chris is a good woman.
Interviewer: Good one to have.
Kay:Â Yes.
Interviewer: Almost like family at this point?
Kay: Yeah.
Interviewer:Â Yeah, I would agree.
Kay: When her brother died in the plane crash, it was so sad.
Interviewer:Â Yeah, but to be still with each other even after all that.
Kay: Even after all these years.
Interviewer: After all these years.
Kay: In each other’s weddings…
Interviewer: Exactly.
Kay: It’s a good story isn’t it?
