"Well, the watermelon man was my dad, Lloyd Thomas. People miles around would plan on certain times of the day or something that they could arrange to go the store or go shopping or whatever – they would make a point of stopping at the Tower place. The thing is, that if Lloyd had any melons for sale, hopefully to give away – which we often did. The temperature there was sometimes between 125 or 130 in the shade. It was bit warm. It was Missouri."
